Application Software

Application software is that which is aimed at directly performing tasks that benefit ordinary users. Common examples include:

• Word processors
• Web browsers
• Email clients
• Media players
• Games
• Spreadsheets

In contrast to utility software, these applications do not help maintain or optimise a computer system.
