Relationship between social media websites and company websites

It would be unusual for a company’s website and social media profile not to be promoting the same information.

From this perspective, it is undesirable to have to update information in two different locations. A common solution to this is the use of newsfeeds – for example, the company website may have a section dedicated to showing recent social media posts. Equally, a social media platform, depending on what it is promoting, may contain a section where updates from the main website are included.

Doing this makes the link between the two stronger, and provides reasons for users to click through from one site to the other.

It is also customary to use the social media platforms’ icons within the company website to advertise and link to the social media profiles.
