Defining the Project

Once the project has been initiated and a project manager has been appointed, the following activities take place:

• Identification of major deliverables
• Participating work groups identified (that is, who will be working to complete the project)

At this stage, the project manager will need to seek approval from the project sponsor (usually their line manger) in order to move to the next phase of development.
